Some of the qualities and/or skills we look for in a Quality Advocate:
- Experience working in software development or other technical experience.
- Quickly learns and understands a number of software systems.
- Able to retain what has been learned, and “context switch” between multiple projects.
- A “make mistakes faster” attitude.
- Asks questions often.
- Plays well with others - Adjusts pairing and consulting approach as needed.
- Pleasant working in pairs and teams.
- Great communication skills.
A Quality Advocate’s Job Responsibilities include performing the following:
- Exploratory testing to ensure software solutions have been implemented completely, do not contain bugs, and fulfill end-user and client requirements.
- Working with the other roles to decide when each feature is complete, and identifying key issues (such as performance problems, design gaps, and bugs).
- Identifying edge cases and working with the team (particularly Developers and High-Tech Anthropologists®) to determine those that need to be addressed.
- Serving as a liaison between roles and clients to ensure they are considering quality and how their work fits into the overall architecture and that it supports the business model.
- Helping clients and team members make informed trade-off decisions and being the voice for quality in those decisions.
- Prioritizing tasks and projects in coordination with Project Managers to ensure client needs are met in a timely fashion.
- Coaching and mentoring other personnel in subject areas in which you have knowledge.
From time to time you may also be asked to do the following:
- Assisting project managers, High-tech Anthropologists®, developers, and others with their project responsibilities.
- Assisting the Menlo Factory Floor Manager with the operation of the Menlo Software Factory.
- Assisting the Experience team with marketing activities.
- Assisting the Menlo Factory Floor Manager with sales qualification and proposal activities.
- Evaluating interim and finished systems.
- Evaluating and providing feedback to other personnel.
- Supporting Menlo’s relationships with its clients and personnel.
- Performing such other tasks as Menlo may assign to you from time to time.
